13 handicap wins $800 in Atlanta 2day Golf Tournament
CHESTATEE OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP WAS A SUCCESS!!!!
Shaun
Kelley, Kissimmee, FL (+2 Hcp), playing in his first ASGTour event
posted the lowest gross score of the season (66) at the recently
completed Chestatee Open Championship in Dawsonville, GA.
Shaun finished
in a tie with Jim Holley, Atlanta, GA (13 Hcp) for first place. Both
players split first and second place money in lieu of a playoff. Shaun
was awarded the champions trophy by virtue of a USGA tiebreaker with the
low net score on the final nine holes.
This
was the first two-day event completed in our Atlanta District and
utilized a reduced two-day event entry fee of only $395. Even with the
lowered fee and a small field of seven players first place was awarded
$1,200 and second place money paid back 100% of the entry fee.
Another
point to note is the effectiveness of the ASGT handicapping system in
leveling the playing field. This event had players with handicaps of +2
(plus 2) and 13 both finishing even up at net two under par for
thirty-six holes, proving again everyone has an opportunity to win on
the ASGTour no matter what your skill level might be!
With
winning scores of just two under par net for thirty-six hoes, ASGT
players continue to find significant success simply by finishing around
par with their handicap.
Congratulations
to all our Atlanta District players for a successful first two-day
event. We look forward to seeing you all at the next one at Eagle's
Landing on July 7-8!

Putt for dough!!! $50,000
ASGTour officials announced today entry exemptions into the 2012 US Putting Tour National Championship in September will be awarded to two members from each ASGTour District.
The 2012 USPT Championship will take place at the beautiful ClubCorp Morgan Run Club & Resort in Rancho Santa Fe, California in scenic coastal north county San Diego. The event provides for Men, Women, Senior & Junior Amateurs to be on the green from Sep 26 - Sep 29 and Pros on the green from Sep 30 - Oct 2.
The Pro Division includes any player who wants to play for a $20,000 first place prize, regardless of their skill level.
For complete details click on the USPT logo to your right or on the link below.
Total purse is estimated to be $50,000 with a full field of about 250 players. Last year's winner took home a $10,000 first place prize in a field of nearly 230 players. No doubt it will be bigger and better in 2012!
In addition to the US Putting Tour Championship, individual 18-hole stroke play events will be held daily on Sep 30, Oct 1 & Oct 2 after players have completed their putting rounds. The stroke play events will follow the ASGTour single round event format and will be open to all divisions of players. Entry fees and payout information will be announce shortly.
ASGT ENTRY EXEMPTION AWARDS
Two All Star Golf Tour members from each district will be awarded entry exemptions into the USPT National Championship based on one of the two following categories:
ASGT National Entry Exemption Award
Players track their total putts for each ACGT tournament round completed between April 1st and the last district event prior to Sep 26th.
ASGT will select the three rounds with the the lowest number of putts taken by the player. The player from each district who has the lowest three round putting total will be awarded an entry exemption. The more scores a player posts, the better his odds of receiving an exemption.
District Level Entry Exemption Award
In addition to the exemption awarded by ASGT National, each district will award one entry exemption based on the Member of the Year category points leader at the conclusion of the last round prior to the putting championship.
Players are awarded points for event entries, new member referrals and guest player referrals. The more you play and the more members you refer to the tour the more points you accumulate towards your exempiton.
Don't miss your opportunity to participate in the 2nd annual US Putting Tour Chamjpionship and the chance to putt for $20,000!
And the best part of it all is . . . . If you can putt . . . You can WIN!!

'Z' Becomes 1st Solo Women Event Champion on the ASGTour!
Sarah 'Z' Zwartynski from Allen, TX cleared the field by four strokes on the Kingwood Forest course and became the first female champion on the All Star Golf Tour. Sarah posted an even par gross score and with her two handicap, a net two under par 70 was more than enough to win. Sarah has tied for first before but this time there would be no sharing of the winner's check!
Posting one bogie and one birdie on the front nine and sixteen pars in her consistent performance gave her a payday of $1,281.95 in a field of just eight players! Her first place prize of $1,000 included $250 of Entry Bonus money simply for entering by the bonus deadline showing it pays to sign up on time!!
Runners-up David Gray, Trophy Club, TX ( (8 hcp) and Jim Kolmeier, New Braunfels, (11 hcp), finished at two over par net 74 and split second place money.
Sarah extended her money list lead with $3,772.30 in total winnings through the first four events. That's an average of nearly $1,000 per event. Last position in the money is averaging $192.55, a near 100% return of entry.
Due to a rained out Kingwood MGA event rescheduled for the same day as our ASGT event, our local Kingwood members were not able to participate. Otherwise the field would have pushed close to twenty players, a very encouraging sign for our S. Texas District program.
Now that we are into some decent weather, the modifications to the handicapping system are bearing the intended fruit with scores in the money now falling between net two under and two over par. We expect those averages to increase as the season progresses.
Don't forget the Entry Bonus deadline for the next event at Stonebridge Ranch CC in McKinney, TX is 0001am on Monday, April 2nd. Don't miss out on a $1,000 guaranteed first place prize (including $250 entry bonus) and the chance to play one of the best courses in Texas on the Dye course at Stonebridge Ranch.
Congratulations to Sarah on her first solo professional win and thanks to all our N. Texas District players for their support and participation.

tournament!Sarah ('Z') Zwartynski (7 Hcp) from Allen, TX, competing in her professional debut, and longtime tour member Randy Lamoreaux (10 Hcp) from Weatherford, TX posted one under par net scores to come on top of the field of nineteen players.
As is the policy of ASGT both players split 1st place ($1,500) and 2nd place ($500) prize money. Sarah pocketed $1,354.65 and Randy takes home $1,100.00 when optional games are included.
Their winnings include a $500 Entry Bonus simply for having submitted their entries by the Entry Bonus Deadline on Sunday night. ASGT added money to the pot as well so players aren't playing for just their own money! It doesn't get much better than that!
Jim Kolmeier (New Braunfels, TX - 12 Hcp) and Jimmy Risinger (San Antonio - 6 hcp) finished tied at three over par net to split 3rd and 4th place money.
This first event of the 2012 season generated a total payout of $3,400 with eleven of the nineteen participants cashing.
The new revisions in the ASGT handicapping policy were put to the test for the first time and based on the scoring of this event, we're pleased to see the handicaps tightened up as evidenced by the net scores finishing in the money.
One under par net was good enough to win and three over par net was good enough to get nearly 100% of the entry back! And this on nearly a perfect day for scoring with excellent course conditions.
